CHA is just around the corner

We are only 11 days away from the beginning of CHA-W!  Can you believe it?  I am so excited I can't hardly contain myself!

I wasn't planning on attending the show, however last minute plans changed, and I found a roommate, and cheap airline tickets, so I'm flying to LA!  I'll be at the show from Sunday through Tuesday and heading back home Wednesday morning.

There are a bunch of companies already showing sneak peeks of their new products on blogs, emails to retailers, etc and I've started posting the ones I've gotten so far over at the Message Board at The Scrapbook Site.  So far we've seen sneaks from 3 Bugs in a Rug, American Crafts, Crate Paper, SEI, Studio 8, Dream Street Papers, Bo Bunny and much much more!

Other store notes...

Because of the intense popularity of the Holidazzle kit from last month, we have re-stocked the Making Memories Noteworthy collection of papers, embellishments, ribbons and stickers!  If you missed out on this kit in December you can still get your hands on some of this gorgeous line of scrappy goodness!

Knk13 I also needed to make mention of our sale on the 13" Klic-N-Kut machines!  The 13" KNK is usually $949 but until February 23, you can get one for only $829!  This package includes everything you need to start cutting your own diecuts, stamps and much more.

One last thing, if you already own a KNK machine of any size (or even the KNK Studio GE Edition software for Craft Robos, Silhouettes, or Wishblades) you should check out the new videos my friend Sandy has made!  She has some great video tutorials on the software available at Paper Threads.  She wrote the manuals on the KNK machines and has done a great job of helping new owners get over the learning curve of these machines.

Love is in the Air Sneak Peek #1

Loveisintheairsneak4blog I Spy with my little eye...

1 Velvet Alphabet stickers from Making Memories
1 American Crafts Ribbon
1 set of glitter diecuts
4 HUGE brads
2 Glitz Designs frosting arrows

And Much Much More!!  Again, I need to find my evil laugh, because this kit is so versatile!  One of the DT members has only boys, but she's been using this kit for their layouts!  There is a LOT of brown on the papers that you can't see in this little peek, so even though there is a bit of pink, there is still hope for moms of boys with this kit!

Sweet Sneak Peek #2

Sweetsneakpeek4blog I Spy with my little eye...

1 American Crafts Thicker Stickers Alphabet
2 Adorn It ribbons
1 Heidi Swapp clock overlay

And much much more!!  Insert evil laugh here!  Bwaa haa haa  :)

Seriously, this is a really nice kit.  One line of papers is double sided, one line of papers is textured, both lines of papers work well for boy or girl photos/activities.

On a side note...I booked my plane ticket on Saturday for CHA in Anaheim!!  This is the winter show, which is the largest craft and hobby show in the world.  I will be going there to find some great new products for both the kit club and the store, and will share them here during the week!  I have already started some posts on the Message board at The Scrapbook Site with the sneak peeks that manufacturers are posting on their blogs, through emails, etc.  So you can check those out as well.

Sneak Peek #1 February SWEET kit

Itsyourbirdday I just love this little bird stamp by Hero Arts.  He just makes me smile!

We are getting close to the debut of the February kits, and there are very few January ones left, so you'll want to get your hands on them, before they sell out!

This card is made using the Sweet Kit.  It has papers by Daisy Bucket and Adorn It along with some SWEET embellishments.  :)

First I stamped my bird and colored him in using Prismacolor Colored pencils and blending with mineral spirits and a stump.  I chose a Daisy Buckets paper for this card, and if you haven't seen this paper in person, you are missing a lucious brand of papers!  It is textured and is so pretty!!  The texture reminds me of Chatterbox, but is heavier weight than the Chatterbox papers.  We will be stocking the Daisy Bucket papers in the store this weekend.

I lined up my pieces and outlined them with a brown Zig marker.  I stuck the strip onto my card, and layered my stamped image on that.  Then, I used the Hero Arts birthday sentiment on my strip.  I finished it off with some American Crafts felt flowers and 2 Queen & Co brads.

Bird-y Valentine

Valentinebird This is the last card using the Fire and Ice kit for a while...I love the color combination, so you may see it again, but we're gonna start doing sneak peeks of the February new kits coming tomorrow!

This was a different card for me.  I hadn't played with the Queen and Company Felt Fusion before so it was fun to try to incorporate it in a card.  I cut off some of the swirls in order to make it work on my card.

The bird is a stamp by Hero Arts and I colored him in with my Prismacolor pencils and blended with mineral spirits and a stump.  I added some glitz to his heart using some Red Stickles.  The red cardstock behind the bird is Doodlebug Sugar Coated Cardstock in Ladybug.  This paper just does not scan very well, but it is the most lucious paper filled with glitter and glitz and adds sparkle to all my projects!  I finished off the card with three little Prima flowers and used a little bit of red Stickles inside the flower.  Last, I inked the edges of the card with my Colorbox Chalk Inks.

Another Thank You Card

Thankyouflocking I have started making more cards than layouts lately.  They're so much fun to make a small mini sized layout with all my scrappy goodies in my studio!

This one uses pattern papers from the Fire and Ice kit for January.  It also has a bit of Doodlebug Sugar Coated cardstock in Ladybug.  The picture doesn't show it, but that little bit of red has a lot of BLING on it!  I also tried my hand at painting some Grungeboard.  I pulled out my Making Memories paints and painted the hinge to match my patterned papers.  I used MM mini brads to adhere it to the card.  The flowers are from Bazzill called Mini Wings.  The red felt swirl is by Queen and Company.  The Thank You sentiment is a cool rubbing from We R Memory Keepers.  It is a rubon with adhesive on both sides.  So you rub on the words and then you take a piece of flocking and rub that over the word...looks so cool and it feels like velvet when you rub your finger over it.  I have the 7Gypsies version in the store right now.

4 Photo Sketch

4picturesb I haven't posted a sketch for a while, so I thought today would be a good day for a sketch!

I like this one because it combines some strips of patterned paper along with some cardstock.  It contains multiple photos too.  Add a few embellishments and a title and you're set!

ENJOY!!  If you use this sketch on a layout, I'd love to come check it out!  Leave a comment below with a link to your layout.  THANKS!

Bright Flowers Card

Floralblank This was a fun card to make.  Especially looking outside and seeing another 6" of new snow on the ground.  Tonight is supposed to get really cold and really windy, so we may have a bit of a blizzard on our hands.  This kids were out of school today, so it was nice to see a bright card instead of all the snow.

This card was made using the SEI Cupid's Candy Shop papers.  They are double sided papers, so you get twice as many options!  The flowers are made by punching out Bazzill cardstock with the Stampin Up flower punch.  I stamped the orange one with a Hero Arts Circle Designs stamp and then pop dotted it for some height.  I also used my glitter markers on the middle of the circle stamp for some sparkle and shine.  The white one is outlined with a glitter marker and then I used a Heidi Swapp Bling flower center.  These are "supposed" to be for the big 4" flowers, but I liked it on this smaller one too.  The ribbon is also SEI Cupid's Candy Shop.

Our first Snow Day!

Snow Other than the clear blue in the back of this picture, this is what we're seeing outside our windows today.  We've been getting snow since last night around 6PM and woke up to a blanket of at least 3" already.  We're getting more all day today.  Which, by itself isn't anything notable, but we're also having some FREEZING temperatures of highs around 0, wind chills around -20, and wind up to 15 miles per hour, which is treacherous with this cold snow.  So, we got the message this morning from school we were 2 hours late.  And then we just got a message saying it's cancelled for today.  UGGH.  LOL  Of course the kids are happy with no school.  but, us moms are pulling our hair out!  LOL

Just kidding...it's fun to have the kids home but it's so cold they can't hardly go out and play in the new snow and we can't go anywhere to do anything, so, we're bundled up today and will be packing orders from the weekend for the mailman to pick up tomorrow and will probably even get some girlie time together scrapping and watching movies.  Which is maybe a blessing in disguise, to get me away from this computer a bit.  :)

I have a card for you today...it is using the Fire and Ice Hearthappysnowmankit which was fun to play with this month!  I love the blue and red combination together.  I had gotten this snowman from someone, so I'm not sure who makes the stamp.  I colored him with Prisma Colored pencils and blended with my mineral spirits and a stump.  I found a Making Memories snowflake charm and used a shimmer brad from MM.  The sentiment stamp comes from Hero Arts
