January kit Sneak Peek!

JanKitSneakPeek Want a little sneak peek of the January kit??  Here's a card I made using some of the cardstock and papers from the January kit.  :)

I used some Lizzie Anne Designs stamps for the cup and sentiment.

I scalloped the striped paper with my Corner Rounder.  I cut out the circle and scalloped circle with my Nestabilities.

I colored in my coffee cup with Copic Markers.  We're starting a Copic Club in January as well, which will get you started on collecting all of these cool markers!

January store newsletter

JanBMNewsletter We will begin publishing links to our archived email newsletters in January.  So, if your email didn't come through, or you need to see it again after deleting it...you'll be able to find them!

We sent one out last week to our Brick & Mortar store customers.  For those of you who want to see it, you can click HERE to see our newsletter.

It has information about the classes and workshops that we will have in the store.

We're working on the January newsletter for our online customers, and we'll post a link to that newsletter when we're finished.  :)  We've got some changes coming up for 2009, so you'll want to make sure you read it!

Fun gift idea

ClothesPin1 A customer of mine here at the store, had purchased some supplies to make her daughter's piano teacher a Christmas gift.

This was such a cute idea...I had to get some picturesClothesPin2 of it, when she brought it in!

First, she started with the Creative Imaginations Ferdie Clothes Pin.  This unfinished wood clothespin is great to set on a desk (or piano in this case) with a favorite photo, or even layout to show off.

She used patterned papers from Piggy Tales Old King Cole collection

She cut out some of the elements and popped them out with some foam adhesive (check the NOTES and PIANO words) as well as the flowers and the treble cleff.

Even though Christmas may be over, I think this would be a great idea for a teacher, grandparent, or birthday!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

MerryChristmas When this posts, we'll be off at church, celebrating the real reason for the season.

I just wanted to take this time to tell everyone I pray that you have a very Merry Christmas with your families!

I have so much to be thankful for, and this time of year reminds me how much I have been blessed with a hubby who loves me and supports me in this little venture of mine.  I have a beautiful little girl who is the light of my life.  I have an awesome family and in-laws who I feel very fortunate to have been placed among such faithful, intelligent, comforting and supportive people.

I am thankful for my customers and friends I have met online.

So anyway, I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas!

From my family to yours,
Dan, Lisa and Hannah

New Card Club starting in January

JanSneekPeek2 Yesterday's post eluded to a new Card kit that we are debuting in January.  Here is the sneak peek of the goodies you'll find in the first card kit!

This kit is perfect for any male in your life...from newborn to great-grandpa.  However, they need not be JUST for the guys!  With some Imaginisce flowers and Doodlebug Brads, this could be for anyone!

We have included 2 sheets of 3 different pattern papers in the full 12x12 size.  That way you can cut up and use them however you want!  We have also included 4 colored cardstock in 12x12 size and 6 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 white cardstock to make your card bases out of (if you choose that direction).  We have also included 12 A2 sized envelopes (although, we finished 18 cards with just the goodies shown here).  Embellishments included are the cardstock sticker sheet, Basic Grey birthday rubons, Imaginisce flowers and Doodlebug brads.

We also have some suggested add-ons that you'll see linked in the store on the 1st of January.  These include some stamps you can use to finish your cards (again ifyou choose that direction.  I completed all of my cards using just the rubons and stickers and things included in the kit).  You can totally personalize your cards just by adding a few stamped images as well!

Add that to our perfectly customized and coordinated Copic marker kit for January and you've got an AMAZING double-whammy of card-makng goodness!

COPIC Marker Club!

JanSneakPeek1 Oh girls (and guys if you're reading this)...have I got some AWESOME news for you!

Starting January 1, we'll be debuting 2 new kits here at A Walk Down Memory Lane.

We will continue to do 1 monthly scrapbook collection kit filled with papers, cardstock, embellishments, alphas and all that you've come to expect from a kit by A Walk Down Memory Lane.

We are adding a Copic Marker club *gasp* yes you heard that right!  A Copic Marker club will add 6 markers per month to your collection.  At the end of your 6 month club membership, you will have 36 markers and your choice of an acrylic holder for your markers or a Colorless Blending Pen!!

Here you see the first 6 markers for the January kit.  These markers are PERFECTLY matched to our January card kit (which you'll see more of tomorrow).

This is a great way to start building your collection of Copic Markers.  They are some of the best markers on the market, and we're bringing them to you!

Some details about the Copic Club:

1.  This is a monthly-billed club.  It works a bit different than our collection and card kits.  You will pay for your first month by purchasing it at the store.  After that, we will automatically charge your card (or bill your paypal account) on the 5th of the month and ship them out to you.  IF you want to add a card kit, collection kit, or any other store products, you can order those by the 4th of the month and we'll combine shipping to save you money on shipping.

2.  The Copic Markers you will receive are the SKETCH Markers.  We feel these are the best value as they have the brush tip, can be refillable, and are available in 322 colors!  We also like them because they work in Copic's air brush system.

3.  The Copic Marker Club is $33.99 plus shipping, per month.  Our shipping is $6.55 flat rate for any orders under $75.  After $75 your shipping is free.

If you have any questions about our Copic Marker club, feel free to post a comment here, or you can email me at lisa@awalkdownmemorylane.net

I hope you're as excited as I am about our new venture!

Another Card Set!

JustYourStyle Here's another Birthday card set that was ordered for Christmas.

I started out with Amy R's sketch from Friday.  I kept with the basics of the card but put the sentiment as the main focus of the card, instead of doing an image and a sentiment.

For this card, I started with Ameircan Crafts cardstock for the base.  I ran the front of the card through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I used Kaiser Craft Vagabond and Tudor papers for the pattern papers.  I used the front and back to save myself on cutting into a 3rd sheet.  I cut out the 2 paper flowers from the paper.  I used my Nestabilities oval to cut out the Stamping Bella sentiment and layered it on an AC Cardstock larger oval.

Then I embellished the card with lots of flowers.  Imaginisce crochet flowers or Making Memories Noteworthy felt flowers, Prima Got Flowers tiny flowers, and then I used Making Memories mini tabs.  I also used some Making Memories velvet brads for the flower centers.

2 hour late start!

We just got a phone call from my sister-in-law who is a teacher at school...they've already declared a 2 hour late start for tomorrow morning.  We have already used our 1 built in snow day, so any other snow days will mean we're going to have to start making them up over President's Day, Easter, and then tacking them on to the end of the school year!

Remind me again why we live here?  LOL

Winding down to Christmas

BirthdayWishes Happy Friday everyone!  It's another nasty, winter day here in northwest Iowa!  We woke up to another 10 inches of the white, powdery stuff again this morning.  School was first 2 hours late, but then changed to cancelled before 8:30 this morning...

After coming to the store today, I spent about 20 minutes re-shovelling the sidewalk and stairs into the store.  Not real thrilled with having to do that, as my landlord is paying someone to do it already, but he just doesn't seem to get it very clear, and with older ladies, moms with babies/kids and such, I didn't like having that much snow on the sidewalks and stairs up to the store.  I can just see it turning to ice once it gets packed on the steps, and with the forcasted high of -5 on Sunday, I don't think it's going to melt any time soon.  We're already under a Blizzard Watch for tonight through Sunday, so I'm hoping to finally get some Christmas things done around the house!  Namely putting up the tree (yup, ours still isn't up yet!) wrapping gifts, and maybe making a batch of cookies.

My card today was inspired by the sketch posted today at the Hero Arts blog.  I used this sketch and switched it up a bit.  I had a friend order some feminine birthday cards for a Christmas gift.  She didn't want them too "busy" or fancy, so I thought this was a great card to start with!

I used Fancy Pants patterned papers, American Crafts cardstock, a bit of cotton ribbon, some Hero Arts bling stickers, and a pack of the American Crafts Details.  I cut my cardstock for the base, used a bit of the striped papers and rounded 2 of the corners.  I used my Wonder Tape to stick the ribbon down,  and stuck the Details embellishment to the card.  I love the Details embellishments, because they're layered, they use a lot of cool textures,a nd they're already put together for me!  I added a strip of the Hero Arts bling stickers and I was finished!  It was a very easy card to put together.

It's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas!

SnowDay So...this is what I am seeing, looking out the store's window today!!  EEKS!

It's been BITTERLY cold, windy and just downright nasty the past couple of days.  Sunday we had -11 for actual temperature with 30-40 mph sustained wind, with gusts of around 40.  Yeah...nastiness.

All this week we're expected to stay below 20 for our high, and normally that's a bit too cold for snow, but this morning, it started snowing little bitty flakes, as the day has progressed, they've grown larger and really started to pile up!  I just swept off the steps up to the store, and I think there's 5-6 inches already!!  We're expecting another huge storm on Friday/Saturday here too, with another 6-12 inches in the forecast so far...

So....what to do, while I'm here in the store? Why, upload new goodies of course!  Have you checked the store lately?  I've got over 280 new products uploaded so far!!  Let's see what we've seen new so far!

GranolaOrganic First off is some GAWGEOUS new Basic Grey Granola papers, brads, embellishments and such!  This is such a fantastic line for boys...lots of natural elements like plants, weeds, and just some cool texture-y looking papers!
MI348 Mia Kit
Next up is the beautiful Crate Paper Mia and Lemon Grass collections.   These are full of beautiful papers, stickers, and brads.  I just adore the texture to the Crate Paper papers..so rich and yummy.

FPHappyHolidaysTreeLot Have you seen the new Fancy Pants collections?  We've got Happy Holidays, The Daily Grind and All Fall here!

Speaking of holiday lines...we've got Making Memories Fa La La, Pink Paislee Tinsel Town , We R Memory Keepers Christmas White Out, Basic Grey Wassail and Figgy Pudding, Heidi Grace Christmas, and so much more!

For those with Diecut machines, we've added some of the Spellbinders Nestabilities dies as well.  We have the 4 packs of ovals, circles, rectangles, etc.  We also have some cool Labels, etc.
