Cool new Product Post #2 Making Memories goodies!

I'm sure by now you can tell that I love Making Memories products.  I carry most of their newer collections in the store, along with all of the matchy-matchy embellishments.

This CHA, Making Memories did NOT disappoint with some awesome new items in their line!

The first collection that I'm excited about, is their WEDDING collection.  Now, this isn't necessarily only for wedding, but the beautiful white, black and grey designs are just gorgeous.  Here is a video from Making Memories' blog from CHA.

We will be carrying a variety of the papers and embellishments from this line, and it's expected in February.

Another new line from Making Memories is Great Escape.  This is obviously great for travel, but I think it has some great color combinations for BOYS of all ages!

We will be carrying a variety of the papers and embellishments from this line, and it is expected sometime in May.

The last paper collections from Making Memories this show is Just Chillin'.  This paper collection is perfect for those 'tween and teen boys or girls.

This collection is expected in March, and of course, we chose a lot of their papers, embellishments and such.

MMSliceBigKid Last, but certainly not least are the 12 (YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT....TWELVE!) new Slice Design cards.  Not only did they come out with cards to match their collections, but they have some basic fonts, shapes and SO MUCH MORE!

The first font cartridge you see here is from Big Kids.  These are awesome for any kid in your life!

MMSliceFonts Next up is the fonts cartridge.  There are 3 various fonts with both uppercase and lowercase letters, PLUS all the numbers!

MMSliceStudioEssentials And, the last one we're showing off today is Studio Essentials.  A beautiful serif font in both upper and lowercase numbers, but check out all of those pieces!!  Journaling blocks, ribbon buckles, photo corners, oh I'm just giddy with anticipation!  The Slice cards are all varying release dates, so you'll just need to check the site often!  They start in February with the wedding cartridge, March is Just Chillin', April has 4 new cards, May has 3 new cards along with the project card idea book and embossing tips, and June has 3 more design cards!  So, almost every month, we'll get some awesome new Slice lovin' from Making Memories!

Cool new Product Post #1 Heidi Swapp Invisibles

HeidiSwappInvisiblesSamples Ok girls...I'm just gonna start posting.  :)  I'll keep posting until I can't find any more pictures or video about the cool new stuff that is on it's way here soon!  I'll try to post the estimated ship date if I know it so you can start stalking the store!

First off is Heidi Swapp Invisibles.  This is a new product which I'm really excited about.  Think white 12x12 paper.  "What's so cool about that?" you ask...oh my friend, just wait and see!!  This isn't just ordinary white paper!   Oh no no no, this is white cardstock paper which has been printed with clear ink on it, so that there is white cardstock weight paper with already wet-embossed papers!  Here is a video I found on Heidi's blog.  We ordered 3 of the papers and both of the alphabet stickers that she's showing on her blog.  We also ordered a few of the HUGE new masks that she used.  We already carry the Tim Holtz blending tool and refills, so you need to get that ASAP so you know how to use THAT tool before the new goodies arrive!

Now can you see why I'm exited about this stuff?  I can't wait to be able to make my own background papers to match my photos just by being able to choose my own ink colors and blending them to all beautiful shades!

We are expecting the new Heidi Swapp products starting the end of February/beginning of March.

HeidiSwappInvisiblesLayout Here is a layout from the booth, along with the closeup so you can see it a bit better.  Way cool stuff, huh?  Do you see how the paper is marbelized green and yellow?  Heidi did that by just swirling the inks around the papers with the Tim Holtz distress ink.  What is white, is the clear ink that was on the paper to begin with, and resisted the distress ink.  I think it is just a cool way to do a layout, and of course there were card displays, etc to have more fun!

And as you can tell from the close-up, the green polka dot letters are the invisibles cardstock alpha stickers that she inked up too.

Jet lag is an awful thing!

OK, so here I am, back in Iowa and back at the store...I should be all "bright and shiny" and excited about all the new CHA goodies I just saw this week, right?  Well, so very sorry to tell you, but I am a bit beat.  Although I AM excited about all of the cool stuff we saw and did, and I can't wait to show and tell you all of it...I am so tired that I'd love nothing better than to crawl back into bed!  LOL  Two 12 hour travel days and non-stop go-go-go for the 3 days we're there and it just wears me down...

Steelers smileySo....today, I will tell you a bit about what's going on here at the store the next couple ofdays. On Sunday, our beloved Steelers will be playing in the Super Bowl!!  We will be hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday night, and to celebrate, I'm extending the CHA 20% off sale at the store!  So...from now until after the game is over, you can receive 20% off your entire order!!!
And, if they win....you can expect to see some celebratory give-aways here on the blog next week.  :)

Next Thursday night is another one of our Cricut classes here at the store.  This one is currently full, but we do have another scheduled for Thursday, March 5.  You will want to register early for this class as we are already filling up spots.

On Monday, February 9 we will have a sneak peek night here at the store.  We will have sneak peeks of most of the goodies we ordered at CHA along with some layouts that we did using some of the new products we got at the show!!  So, not only will you be able to see pictures of them here on the blog, but you'll be able to touch and feel them at the store!

And, on Friday the 13th we will be hosting another workshop at the store.  For $10 you can crop the night away from 6 until midnight!

I am so excited to show you all of the new things that will be showing up at the store!  We already got our first phone call this morning that one of our CHA orders was ready to ship!!  So exciting!  :)

CHA Day 2 and 3

FiskarsPunchesBlog Well, it's Tuesday night, I'm absolutely BEAT!  I put in orders for some AWESOME new companies, and of course got a ton of stuff from our favorites!

Here is a picture of some of Fiskars' new punches!  Do you see the ones that have the NEW sticker on them?  We are getting the one on the top left with the Arabesque edges, and the lace one, and SCALLOPS with NO HOLES!!!!

Here is a new collection that will be shipping in March.  The Baby Safari collection by Little Yellow Bicycle. LYBBabySafari I just loved the little animals in this collection.  Here is a bit of the girl color combination, but we've got boy coming in as well!

I also fell in love with their travel line, but I think it is soooo perfect for tween/teen boys as well.

PinkPaislee Here is a bit of the new Pink Paislee collection.  They have some new embellishments as well.  Brads, fabric flowers...I just can't wait to get these in and start playing!  :)

We also ordered from a number of new companies this year.  Some are new, new.  And others are just new to us.  Companies like Our Craft Lounge (with adorable clear acrylic and rubber cling stamps), Unity Stamp company (with cling mount and thin mount rubber stamps), Jillibean Soup are new companies that we're so excited to show you.

I'll be heading back to Iowa tomorrow to start making room for all of the awesome new goodies that will be rolling out starting the next couple of weeks!

If you have a boy of any age, have wedding pictures to scrap, or plan on doing a vacation album any time soon...you should wait until you see our new purchases.  They are nothing short of awesome.

Day 1 in Anaheim

BGLimeRikey Hey girls!!  Just wanted to drop a quick note to you this morning with some pictures and thoughts of Day 1.

First up is Basic Grey.  These little bird guys are on one of their lines called Lime Rikey.  It's their newest version of Color Me Silly.  If you like bright and bold stripes, polka dots, etc this is for you!

They had 3 other lines as well, which obviously, all 4 lines will be making an appearance at the store.  They also started a new $1.99 stamp program (think the Michaels $1 stamp sizes) which has exclusive BG stamp images on them and they're limited edition stamps so once they're gone, they're gone!

CratePaperBlog Here is some Crate Paper with some awesome shaped papers.  Check out the diecut mushroom.  It's it cute!

FancyPantsKraft Next up on the left is some Fancy Pants Kraft papers.  Sooo pretty!  And they had some really cool frames for layouts, photos, etc.

We're HERE!

Well, we made it all safe and sound to California!  We left Iowa a little before 5am this morning and travelled to Omaha leaving the -2 degree weather, only to fly to Minneapolis to -11.  EEKS that's cold!

We got in to LA around 1:45 this afternoon and spent the evening at Downtown Disney.  We took a bunch of pictures and even a few videos but we're beat, so we'll post more tomorrow night.  I'm super excited about hitting the show floor tomorrow and have a bit of a plan for the first morning anyway.

See ya soon!

Quick and Easy Birthday Card

FootballCard1 I sat in on the Cricut classes last week, and BOY did I learn a LOT!!  Betsy is an awesome teacher, and although it went a tad longer than we anticipated, it was well worth the time spent.

I learned about the center point button, the fit to page button and so many things I didn't know.

If you missed out on our first 3 classes, we have another Cricut 101 class scheduled on Thursday, March 5 from 6-9:30 at the store.  But, you'll want to sign up quick, because they're filling up fast!

OK, so I took my newfound knowledge of the Wild Card cartridge and made my very first Cricut card!  :)  I had 2 birthday cards that I needed to make for birthdays last weekend, and they're both football fans.  So, I doubled up and made 2 cards like this.

I used SEI Beachhouse papers for the card base and envelope.  I cut out my envelope with my Cricut Wild Card cartridge.  That way I know how big I could make my card.  Next I cut out the card, frame and saying from that cartridge.  I opened up my new Sports Mania cartridge and cut out 2 footballs.  The larger one was 3" for the envelope and the 2nd one was 2" for the card.

They were pretty quick and easy to put together, and because the papers were from our clearance section, I had 2 cards made for less than $1.

Back to the Basics....Photos as Story Tellers!

So, the planning for CHA has begun here at the store, and I'll be a bit MIA for blog posts between now and then.  I'm scouring the web in search of sneak peeks so I know what types of things to order and what to expect at the show!!  I'm also putting together re-order lists of stuff we're currently out of, so we can get them back in stock ASAP!

But, for today, I'm going to send you off on a link that reminded me today of one of the reasons I got into this great hobby of ours!  Pioneer Woman has this great blog, and today, she had a guest writer explain a bit why landscape photos work better than others.  Basically, how does your photo tell a story?  It needs a beginning, a middle, and an end.  She shows off some fabulous landscape photos in her blog posts, but how do YOUR photos tell YOUR stories?

Oh...and PS...for those of us living in the FRIGID north (or Iowa as it is known) enjoy those beautiful beach pictures!  I can't WAIT to get back to "normal" or "livable" weather again!  LOL

ENJOY!

You Rocket!

YouRocketCard Do you ever run short of boy cards?  I have so much fun making the girly cards, that I never have enough boy ones laying around.

So...I was excited to ink up Mr. Changito monkey again for this cute boy card.  This is made using the papers and embellishments from the January Vintage Home kit.

First, I cut my pieces for the card for a color-blocked effect.  I used my Tim Holtz Design Ruler along the edge of the blue piece for the stitched holes.  I used the black circle bling from the kit and cut into a 1/2 circle and added it to the corner of the card.

I colored in Changito the monkey using my Copic markers and cut him out of theYouRocketCopics white cardstock.  I mounted it on the yellow polka dot papers, which I cut a bit smaller than the mat.  I added the Pebbles Candy Dots from the kit to the edge of the mat.

Here are the Copics I used for this card.  ENJOY!
