Impromptu Crop Challenge card

ImpromptuPocketCard I've got a few projects that I completed during the Impromptu crop that I need to get posted!!  This one here is a really cute little card.

One of the members challenged us to make a pocket card, and the challenge was it had to have 3 flowers on it.

So...I made my card with Bazzill cardstock in an A2 size.  Then, I used some Kraft Bazzill cardstock to make the pocket, and sewed it onto the Whirlpool CS base.

Next I used some October Afternoon Weathervane striped paper, a Heidi Grace It's My Party sticker flower, and colored in the middle of the flower with Dimensional Pearls from the On the Dotted Line card kit.

Next, I stamped my Changito monkey and colored him in with my Copic Markers.  I adhered him to a piece of Bazzill cardstock, and then punched the top with an EK Slim Shapers Binding Punch to make the "notebook" looking top of the card.

Improptu Crop last weekend

ImpromptuColorChallenge I had the opportunity to play along last weekend during the Impromptu Crop over at the Message Board, but couldn't find my card reader to upload my images!!!

Anyway, here is a layout that I put together for the color challenge. The colors picked were red, tan, pink, and lime green.

I started with a cardstock base of Bazzill Bling from the Birthstone pack.  Next, I used some new Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts 2 girl diecut paper and cut off just a section of it.  I used the lime green paper from October Afternoon's new Cherry Hill collection.  The cardstock letter and number stickers are from the Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts 2 Girl collection as well.  The fabric label behind the #4 is from 7Gypsies and was included in the Blueberries & Fudge collection kit.  I used an Art Warehouse stamp for the journaling lines, but they're really faint...I didn't want them to appear overpowering.  The flowers are from Prima.  I used a brown button, and on the brown flower, I used a Making Memories Looking Glass piece from the Cards set.  The lime green cardstock sticker leaves are from Heidi Grace It's my Party collection.

Want a tour?

I know a lot of you are online customers, and have wondered what the actual storefront looks like...well, I finally got my Flip camcorder out of it's box, installed it's software, and I think I've got it figured out!

Here is just a little brief tour of our entryway...our inspiration location..or whatever you want to call it.  It's basically a 6x8 little entry to buffer the outside world's heat, humidity or cold and rain from the actual store.  :)

ENJOY!!

Here is the second video of the next 3 rooms in the store. Here is the last video tour of the store. Hope you enjoyed it!

This card kit will be great for a great many different cards you may need to make.  Masculine, girly, sympathy, etc.

Copic markers next month are of the olive green, deep red, and mustard yellow variety.

DTNicole

<-----  This is Nicole.  Hi, All!!  I am so excited to be a part of the new Design Team at “A Walk Down Memory Lane!”  Let me introduce myself…. My name is Nicole Wise.  I live in Southern Maine with my husband and two kids, who are five and six years old.   They are the main reason I scrap.  I love to scrap the funny moments and how they grow and change.  During the day, I am a Middle School Music Teacher.  I just finished up my 11th year of teaching and while I am super excited for summer, I love teaching!  The kids are super fun and keep me entertained every day.  The saxophone was my major instrument through college and I have been known to play professionally in a big band now, and again.

I have been scrapping for about three years.  In the past year it has truly grown into an obsession that I am thinking about all the time.  I am always looking  for fun ideas to use in my scrapping  and I enjoy surfing the internet to find interesting things.

You can check out Nicole's blog Four Wise Guys.

DTSarah Welcome Sarah!  ----->

My name is Sarah, I live in Chicago, IL, have been married for almost four years to my husband Ron and have an adorable 5 month old daughter Frances. We have three dauchshunds- Ginger, Bacon and Kody that we adopted from a rescue. I also love to run and have run in several marathons, love to cook and am getting better everyday, and love being outdoors.

I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years, but have only done it seriously for the last couple of years. I love to scrapbook my daughter, my family and the doggies. I would say my style is cute and fun. I love patterned paper and embellishments. I like to learn and try out new techniques, but don't like to spend too long on a page. The main reason I scrapbook is so my daughter and my family always know how much they are loved and what they means to me (I tell them and show them enough, but after looking at my pages there is no denying it). So no matter if the layout is fancy or simple if that message is conveyed, I love the page. I also love going back and looking at my pages. If I am having a bad day they always cheer me up.

Sarah's blog is Scrapcetera.

I hope you visit their blogs and get to know them a bit.  They have already impressed me with their ideas and willingness to help promote A Walk Down Memory Lane.  I hope you will be as impressed with them, as I am!

Today's the big day!

StoreLayoutSketch Can you tell what this is??  If you look really really closely, you may be able to tell my mom's handwriting.   You'll also be able to see that there is some boxes, shapes, etc that look like fixtures that we can hang product on.  You may also see the outline of an embellishment bar, or a tool try-it-before-you-buy-it counter.  Can you guess now??

Today is a big day!!!  This is the day that we close on our new building!  These are some temporary floor-plans for the new store!!  My mom has been diligently working on the floorplan, and how to lay out the store.  So, it may not look like the above drawing when you're in the store...but we're so excited to move over there next month!

We have been renting a small-ish space since October.  We had thought that we would just be getting the store out of the basement, and use it more like a "warehouse" to make it easier to pack online orders...but it has become SOOOO much more than that!

We have been pleased and surprised by the reception that we've had here in Rock Valley.  We've had request for crops and classes that we really have not been able to host before in our small space.  Now, we'll have a 23 x 26 foot workshop/classroom area that will be set up with 8' tables all the time, so people can come and crop during store hours for free.

We plan on having some fun make and takes at the store, along with a cool tool try it before you buy it counter, where a whole counter will be filled with tools you can try before you buy them.

We also plan on having an embellishment bar, where you can pick up miscellaneous embellishments individually, instead of having to buy a whole pack.  Things like flowers, buttons, brads, etc.

We hope to be open sometime late July, because we have a bit of remodeling to do to the store, and will definitely post pictures when we're all ready!

Have a great weekend!
