New Location!

Well...it's been a long while again since a post!

We have been moving ALL of our 10,000+ items into our new, bigger location!!  We started on Monday, July 13 starting packing with my mom, grandma and my brother.  We had all of the embellishments, etc packed up and ready to move by 4PM on Monday.

Around 4PM on Monday, we had 10 AWESOME ladies come over and volunteer to help move our boxes and boxes of inventory.  These girls worked hard, and we had about 80% of our inventory into our new location on Monday night at 8.  Of course we stopped for a while to have some pizza for dinner, but they really worked hard, and I SOOOO appreciate all of the work they put in!

Starting on Tuesday, we started putting away papers and embellishments on the walls, on our fixtures my hubby built, and on Friday we pretty much had everything put where we wanted it.

On Saturday, we went away to Kansas City for a few days of rest and relaxation with my entire family.  We went to a Royals baseball game, we spent some time at Oceans of Fun, and Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, and headed back on Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday were spent packing up and setting up the checkout counter, office computers, etc.  On Saturday the finishing touches were put on the front window display, and other displays throughout the store.

Today we opened at 10AM and we have been pleasantly surprised by the reaction of shoppers today!  We have a few things left to finish up in the classroom/workshop room and a few other fun things to finish up, but we're up and running today!

I will get some pictures and video up to the blog shortly, so you online shoppers can see what it looks like now!

Crazy weather in Iowa today!!

We have had some crazy weather here the last couple of days.  Dangerous thundestorms have rolled through our area the past 3 days or so, with wicked winds, monsterous hail, and LOTS and LOTS of rain!

This morning, we had a little thunderstorm come through and dump a bunch of rain on us.  Again this afternoon, we've had a little black raincloud pass overhead, and gave us THIS.....

a bunch of HAIL flying through the air again, and my poor van was sitting out in the middle of it.  Now I need to go check on my van once the storm is over.

BGLemonade6x6 Happy Monday everyone!!  I hope you all enjoyed a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!  We had a great weekend with some friends and family, camping by a lake in Minnesota.  Other than a night of rain, I think everyone had fun!

Right before the weekend, I took a bunch of time again and uploaded some BRAND NEW product again!

2 releases from Basic Grey, Lemonade and June Bug are soooo cute!  Just right for summer!  We also unpacked some GREAT new Designer Cardstock from Basic Grey!  So now, when you need some cardstock, but don't want it to be "plain" you can get some Basic Grey cardstock with just the right hint of grunge.

We've also got in the October Afternoon Road Map, and Little Yellow Bicycle Traveler for those great summer vacation photos.EllesStudioScallopedJournalingBlackWhite

July card club

July09CardKitHi This is one of the cards that I've made using the goodies inside July's Card Kit called

The card kit this month, contains some fun goodies!  The papers are from Jillibean Soup.  There are embellishments from Pebbles, Inc, Daisy Bucket Designs, Chatterbox, and We R Memory Keepers.

This card I started out with a cardstock piece in 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 size.  Next was the striped pattern paper cut 1/2 inch smaller at 5 x 3 3/4.  I used a strip of the polka dot paper, and cut my own scallops by following the polka dots from the paper.  I used my Tim Holtz Ink Blending tool on all of the papers to give it a bit of a distressed look.

Next I grabbed my sewing machine and stitched around the card, and across the top of the other border piece.  I cut the red cardstock into a circle and the same with the kraft using my EK Circle Scissors Plus.

Last, I used the felt flowers from the kit, and used a Chatterbox wooden brad for the middle of the center.  I also tucked in a Daisy Bucket felt heart behind the flower.  The alpha stickers are some American Crafts vinyl Thicker stickers from my stash.

Last Impromptu Crop post!

ImpromptuSympathyCard This is the last post I have left for the projects that I completed during the Impromptu Crop last weekend.  :)

A member challenged us to post a sympathy or thinking about you card.  I like to have some of these on hand as well, so I thought I'd play along!

First, I started with a layer of brown cardstock in an A7 size ( 5x7).  Next, I used a piece of October Afternoon Weathervane in 4 3/4 x 6 3/4.  I used my Tim Holtz blending tool with my Memento ink to go around the edges of the card, to give it a little softer feel.  I did the same thing with the other pieces of the card.  The Jenni Bowlin mini bingo card...I didn't just keep to the edges.  I tinted the whole card with the blending tool and ink.  I used a Penny Black sentiment for the card, and a piece of brown grossgrain ribbon.
