Hello stranger!

Wow...a few weeks without a blog post, makes me a REALLY BAD poster huh?!

We have had a few busy weeks in August, getting used to the new store, getting the classroom all prepped and ready for classes, starting in September, training two new part-time employees, and we snuck off to Yankton to camp for the week.

Add to that the first days of school, and it's been CRAZY around here!  :)  But, I promise not to let hte blog get so dusty next time!  We've got LOTS of fun things planned for the store, both online and here at the Brick & Mortar store all month, so let's get right down to it, OK?

We are featuring a new manufacturer starting today...Little Yellow Bicycle is relatively new in the scrapbook world, but it has taken the hearts of scrapbookers worldwide!  With it's adorable Baby Safari lines, their Delightful collection, the colorful Zinnia collection, and their Traveler collection is awesome!  Even if you haven't traveled this summer, it is GREAT for those 'tween to teenage boys!

We are scheduling classes here at the B&M like crazy too! 

September 2 - Cricut 101 class at 6PM.  For $25 (or free if you purchase your Cricut machine from us) you'll get a 3-4 hour class with Betsy Veldman.  She is a Provo Craft Design team member, and knows the ins and outs of your machine.  You'll make 2 projects.

September 10-12 is our annual fall City-Wide Garage Sales.  We'll be having a garage sale here at the store as well.  In our classroom, you'll find all kinds of tools, papers, embellishments, etc. from fellow scrapbookers who outgrew these items.

September 16 - Stamping class at 5:30.  For $10 you'll make 3 Sympathy cards, while learning how to use acrylic or cling mounted rubber stamps.  You'll also get a chance to play with the BRAND NEW i-Top tool from Imaginisce!!

September 18 - Workshop from 6-midnight.  For $10 you can come crop the night away with your friends in our classroom!

Sepember 21 - Stamping class at 2pm.  For $10 you'll make 3 Sympathy cards, while learning how to use acrylic or cling mounted rubber stamps.  You'll also get a chance to play with the BRAND NEW i-Top tool from Imaginisce!!

September 21 - Basic Grey layout class at 6pm.  For $20 you'll make a 2 page layout, and have extras for at least 2 cards.  We'll learn how to combine various patterned papers as well as how to view a layout and turn it into a card.

September 23 - Bring in your card swap cards!  For September, the theme for your cards is Fall or Halloween cards.  Bring in 5 cards along with matching envelopes, that are all the same.  On the 23rd, we will swap out the cards and you can pick up your swapped out cards.  You'll get 5 totally different cards back!

September 26 - Workshop from 5-11.  For $10 you can come crop the night away with your friends in our classroom!

Also, during the week of September 19-26 is our We've MOVED Celebration!  On the Saturdays, we'll have our Open House with time for you to come on over and see our new location, new classroom/workshop area, and do some make & takes.  Every day that week, will have another make & take project, and we'll also feature something on sale every day!

June's Featured Manufacter...Doodlebug!

This month...our featured manufacturer is Doodlebug!  This is one of my all-time favorite manufacturers.  At CHA they have the cutest little booth set up, and I just always have a smile when I walk around their bright and colorful embellishment "bar", check out their gorgeous alphabets, and run my fingers over their flock or glittered papers.

This past winter, they introduced a number of different collections, and each collection has these adorable little Boutique Brads that match.  Check out the layout to the left.  Check out those cute little cupcakes, candies, etc.  They are little brads with a little glitter for good measure.  :)

The DT plays with Basic Grey!

This month's featured manufacturer is BASIC GREY.  Everything by Basic Grey is 15% off through the month of April.

If you haven't tried any BG goodness yet, now is a GREAT time to try a few pieces. 

If BG is your favorite manufacturer...well, head on over to the store and load up!  We have lots of BG products including all the embellishments, 6x6 paper pads and so much more right here in the store!

In the first layout tot he left, Angie used some Basic Grey Offbeat papers and stickers.  I love the bright colorful patterns of the Offbeat collection.

On the right, Liza made a gorgeous layout celebrating love using the Basic Grey Urban Prairie collection.  I think this collection is my favorite Basic Grey collection yet.  It's so pretty with it's colorful butterflies, and it works so well with all of my girly-girl photos.

Last is this layout from Lynn.  She did an awesome two-page spread using some Basic Grey Sugared papers.  Normally this is a "girly" collection, however I just love how she changed her photos to black & white and used it to showcase ALL of her kids!

Featured Manufacturer for January

In 2009 we're starting a monthly feature here at the store!  Each month, we'll be highlighting a new company.  We'll post some samples here on the blog, in the gallery, on the newsletter, etc so you can see some cool things from this manufacturer!

In January, our Featured Manufacturer is My Mind's Eye.  This is an awesome company as they make designing so very simple!  They have collections with coordinating papers, most are double-sided, some have a really cool texture to it as well.  The best part?  They design some unique diecuts, rubons, transparent diecuts, transparent frames, regular frames, and now chipboard borders and accents, and even acrylic stamps with matching inks!!!

Seriously cool stuff, to be able to find 2 different pattern papers that coordinate (with a matching solid or another pattern on the back) along with a title, or a quote, or some fun pieces that match perfectly!  We are offering all of our My Mind's Eye products at a 15% discount during the month of January.

We carry the newer lines from My Mind's Eye including:

Laundry Line - this one is just sooo pretty, and the web just doesn't do these papers, etc justice.  These papers are heavy-weight, single sided papers, but they're all glittered!!  They're just absolutely beautiful.  Then, with this line, they came out with acrylic stamps, inks, chipboard borders, chipboard diecuts, rubons, rubon alphabets, and of course their standard journaling cards or diecut shapes.

Just Dreamy 2 - This is a new look for My Mind's Eye.  It's very bright and cheerful with no distressing.  These work great for spring/summer pictures or just every day pictures of the kids.  This collection has heavy-weight papers that are double-sided.  The embellishments range from titles, quotes, journaling cards, transparent shapes, transparent diecuts and more!

29th Street Market - This is a cool "old-fashioned" looking collection.  They have gorgeous double-sided papers and some really unique diecut shapes and accessories.

Wild Asparagus 4 - This is the 4th release of the WA collections.  These are some beautifully textured papers that are extremely heavy-weight and double-sided.  They have great embellishments with this collection including some shimmer alphabet shapes, shimmer frames, titles and more!

The layout on the left is by Design Team member Lucy.  She used some of the papers and embellishments from the Just Dreamy 2 collection.  She also added some Making Memories Puffy alphabet stickers in black (look for a sneak peek of those in the February kit!).

The card on the right is from Design Team member Lynn.  This uses one of the chipboard diecuts from the Laundry Line collection.
