Back to the Basics....Photos as Story Tellers!

So, the planning for CHA has begun here at the store, and I'll be a bit MIA for blog posts between now and then.  I'm scouring the web in search of sneak peeks so I know what types of things to order and what to expect at the show!!  I'm also putting together re-order lists of stuff we're currently out of, so we can get them back in stock ASAP!

But, for today, I'm going to send you off on a link that reminded me today of one of the reasons I got into this great hobby of ours!  Pioneer Woman has this great blog, and today, she had a guest writer explain a bit why landscape photos work better than others.  Basically, how does your photo tell a story?  It needs a beginning, a middle, and an end.  She shows off some fabulous landscape photos in her blog posts, but how do YOUR photos tell YOUR stories?

Oh...and PS...for those of us living in the FRIGID north (or Iowa as it is known) enjoy those beautiful beach pictures!  I can't WAIT to get back to "normal" or "livable" weather again!  LOL

All kinds of new goodies!

Kisheerdelightsgizmos1Have you seen the new KI Memories Sheer Delights pages?  They are absolutely STUNNING!  Ask anyone working the KI Memories booth at CHA about the girl that made a fool of herself over these, and I'm sure they'll remember me!  These are SHEER (think of the Maya Road Sheers products) so they are opaque and not totally see through.  They are very flexible, they're DIECUT and they're soooo COOL!!

On the KI Memories site, you can see all kinds of cool things that the Design Team has done with these awesome new products!  I have one layout on display here at the store that uses the polka dot Sheer Delight, and it gets oohs and aahs every time someone sees it!Cbartsybloomframes

How about the Chatterbox Artsy.licious collection?  These are totally luscious papers, ribbons, brads, and sooo much more!
ThCbartsyframeese are sooo pretty and all coordinate together to make some beautiful projects.  At right, you can see their Lucious Frames.  These are some gorgeous chipboard frames that are soo detailed with engraving, and are layered with fancy edges and are just beautiful!  We did a little make & take at CHA with all of the frames, ribbons, and splendid treasures and it was so fun running my fingers through all the little "chotchkies" in the box that we got to play with!  On the left is my sample.  I chose the Willow background paper.  Then I added 2 of the luscious frames in Peacock with the saying in the middle.  Next I added a Chocolate felt flower from the Splendid Treasures package.  I stuck 2 wings from the Eclectique Layered Wings on the flower with a Chocolate jewel from the Splendid Treasures box.

Hello everyone! Long time, no blog!

ThankssomuchI need to write a great big, HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has ordered over the past month and was so very patient while we moved over to the new location.

I tell you what...I'm exhausted!  LOL  We moved over 7,100 different SKUs to the new store, checked them in, counted everything, priced everything, and displayed every last bit of scrapbooking supply that we could fit in our little shoppe.

And...I still have stuff here at the house that didn't make it over to the store, because we ran out of room!  We grew about 3 times as much square footage, but don't have enough room to show everything off...ah well.  What can a girl do?

We checked in over 1,500 products that are not in the webstore yet.  That's my next goal, to get them uploaded to the webstore for you all to enjoy. Things like Basic Grey Granola and Urban Prairie.  Or how about Making Memories Paperie?  We got in the new Cricut Cartridges Storybook, Graphically Speaking and Wild Cards too!  Doodlebug and new Fancy Pants are also ready to find a new and loving home.

I'll be working on getting all of them uploaded to the webstore within the next few days, so you'll definitely want to check out the new products section of the store.

Speaking of the store...have you seen the latest upgrade we did to it?  Doesn't it look great?  We had our web designers do an upgrade, etc. and they did a great job.  We're waiting for the Wish List to get finished, and then you'll be able to create your own Wish List for your family to receive and shop for your Christmas/Birthday/Anniversary gifts directly from the store.

I promise I'll get some pictures of our new location up here soon.  It's a cute little shoppe, and my mom did a GREAT job of displaying the product. We have yet to get our samples, etc displayed though.

One last thing before I forget...because we were waiting on a few manufacturers to ship out orders from CHA for the October kits, we decided to "skip" October and push everything back one month.  So the sneak peek you saw for the October kits are actually going to be released in November.  These two kits are really awesome and I'm sure you'll agree they're worth the wait.  American Crafts Everyday and We R Memory Keepers Nonsense OR KI Memories School Days with GCD Studios Schooled.  These are two of my favorite kits so far...the Design Team should be getting theirs this week, so I'm hoping you'll see a few sneak peeks on the blog before long!

Whew...almost there!

Well, after 2 weeks of packing boxes, moving boxes, unpacking, etc. we're ALMOST ready to go here at our new location!

We've got some embellishments and clearance items to get moved over here...as well as our idea books and albums and then our misc. stuff we don't know what to do with.  LOL

It's looking pretty bare over at the house now..and my hubby is so excited to get his "man-cave" started!  I think it'll be a good winter project for him.

I want to take a few minutes and say THANK YOU so much for your patience as we move all of our products to the new location.  I have orders that need to ship ASAP as well as the Design Team kits to get ready.  The month of October is a bit behind as our monthly kits have 2 manufacturers we're waiting to ship.  I'm hoping those items will ship over the next day or so, and kits should be ready to go by the 15th.

I'll take a few pictures of the store when we're all finished so you can envision what it looks like, for all of you non-local shoppers.  :)

We're hoping to be pretty much finished by Friday/Saturday and then do our clean-up on Monday/Tuesday for our opening date of October 15.  Wish us luck!

Packing, Painting, Preparing...

The online store will remain open while we are moving to our new location, however, any orders placed after Sunday, September 21 will not be shipped until we have moved.  We will be busy prepping the store, etc. so we will not be able to get orders packed and shipped during the time when products are getting moved and re-arranged in the new store.

I'm so sorry for this inconvenience, but I promise it'll be worth it!  Along with the new store comes some GREAT new product that will be uploaded to the store as soon as we're all unpacked and situated.

I probably won't be blogging much either during the time when we're packing and unpacking, so feel free to check out our Design Team blog!  Or, you can always check out the message boards!!  We had a great crop on Saturday and the design team posted some GREAT new classes!  3 new classes on mini-albums and a fantastic Photography class too.  Hopefully that'll keep you busy until we're back!

Where were YOU?

Wtcmemoriallights763454I'm sure most of you have heard the song by Alan Jackson that asks, "Where were you, when the world stopped turnin'.  That September day?"

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

My hubby and I were home that week, because Hannah was going to be coming home from the hospital after 89 days being in the NICU.  I remember turning on the news while getting ready for our day, and seeing the buildings burning.  For the rest of that week, we (along with most of America I think) sat in front of the TV just watching and waiting in total disbelief.

I'm not going to bore you with my political beliefs, etc. I'm just going to challenge you all to think about, what would happen if something happened to me today?  Would my family have something they could look at to remember me?  Would they have something that I wrote, or created, telling them how much I love them?  Would they have something to remember what I looked like, how my handwriting looked?

I really believe that leaving something behind for our families, is one of the most precious gifts we can give them.  So, take the time to write a little love letter to your family.  You can always stash it away, but, let 'em know you love them!  Give your kids and families an extra hug today!

OK..enough sappiness for one day huh?  :)  I've got  some FABULOUS Friday finds, and a challenge for you tomorrow on the blog!

Photo came from HERE after a search on Google Images.

Movin' and Growin'

Movingsale Hello blog readers!!  I'm sure you are wondering where I've been the last week or so...I didn't leave ya, just had a few things to accomplish and blogging just got put on the back burner for a few days.

I'm so thrilled to announce that I will be moving all of my inventory, etc. from my basement into an actual little warehouse/office area where I'll actually be able to display all my goodies in a store setting!  I've been slowly growing my store for 5 1/2 years now, and this was always the goal, I just didn't think it would take me this long!  LOL

So, with that being said...last week we toured a few places to rent, took measurements, laid out floor plans to figure out where all of our product would go, figured out how many displays, etc we'd need, checked into a few things we need to do to remodel it, including carpet, some paint, etc.

Next week the carpet will get laid, the paper racks will be in, and we'll begin the long process of moving everything in to the new location.  With that being said.......

I'm having a moving sale, 'cuz you can't imagine how heavy almost 5,500 products are going to be!  LOL  How does 10% off the entire store (well, a few exceptions like the diecut machines and kit club memberships) and free shipping after $50 sound to you?

The sale starts today, and will run through Sunday, September 21.  I'm anticipating starting our move on Monday the 22nd, so any orders placed after that, won't be shipped until we're all unpacked in our new location.  I plan on being open in our new location on October 1, at least that's my goal.  :)

Make Me a Super Scrapper!!

For the past 7 weeks, we have been running a contest on the message board.  Each week the Design Team came up with an awesome theme challenge, and the participants were asked to work with a specific manufacturer each week.

We started with over 20 scrappers in our contest, and after 6 challenges, message board votes, etc. we have a WINNER!!!

Drumroll please............................

Lizaphoto_2  Liza aka LizaScraps on the message board is our winner!

Each week, she uploaded some of the most beautiful layouts which impressed not only the Design Team but the message board readers as well.

Check out her Gallery HERE.

She is on a few online design teams, and you can see more of here work on her blog A Few Of My Thoughts.

She will be joining our Design Team in October, and I am so excited to be working with her!  You will be so inspired by her beautiful work!

Please join me in congratulating Liza in her win!
