Meet our NEW Design Team!!

I am sooo pleased to announce our NEW Design Team members!!  These members were chosen from a lot of really talented applicants and the chose was extremely hard!  But I am confident that these 4 girls will WOW you with their creations!

DTCrystal <----- Please welcome Crystal!  I live in KY with my wonderful, supportive husband.  I am a SAHM to our wonderful and very active son, Caeden who will be 2 in August.  We are also expecting our second blessing as well--another boy.  As you might expect, I have plenty to scrap about!  I love scrapbooking because it gives me a much-needed creative outlet and allows me to document my family's lives as well.

Crystal's blog is located at Scrapper Mom.

Meet Mindy. ----->
My name is Mindy Baxter I'm a Stay at Home mom to 3 children, ages 10, 7, 2. 1 boy, my oldest and 2 girls. They really keep me on my toes! I have been paper crafting for about 3 years. I have so much fun, I love doing challenges, design team work, teaching classes with my craft group. Even doing some illustrating for a few stamp companies. I live in Southern California with my husband, Ralph, who for the most part is understanding about my addiction, I mean hobby. He has been so kind to let me have the office in our home as my craft area and is always trying to improve things, shelving, lighting ect. I'm really looking forward to my design team term here at A Walk Down Memory Lane!

Mindy's blog can be found at Stampin Mindy.

DTNicole

<-----  This is Nicole.  Hi, All!!  I am so excited to be a part of the new Design Team at “A Walk Down Memory Lane!”  Let me introduce myself…. My name is Nicole Wise.  I live in Southern Maine with my husband and two kids, who are five and six years old.   They are the main reason I scrap.  I love to scrap the funny moments and how they grow and change.  During the day, I am a Middle School Music Teacher.  I just finished up my 11th year of teaching and while I am super excited for summer, I love teaching!  The kids are super fun and keep me entertained every day.  The saxophone was my major instrument through college and I have been known to play professionally in a big band now, and again.

I have been scrapping for about three years.  In the past year it has truly grown into an obsession that I am thinking about all the time.  I am always looking  for fun ideas to use in my scrapping  and I enjoy surfing the internet to find interesting things.

You can check out Nicole's blog Four Wise Guys.

DTSarah Welcome Sarah!  ----->

My name is Sarah, I live in Chicago, IL, have been married for almost four years to my husband Ron and have an adorable 5 month old daughter Frances. We have three dauchshunds- Ginger, Bacon and Kody that we adopted from a rescue. I also love to run and have run in several marathons, love to cook and am getting better everyday, and love being outdoors.

I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years, but have only done it seriously for the last couple of years. I love to scrapbook my daughter, my family and the doggies. I would say my style is cute and fun. I love patterned paper and embellishments. I like to learn and try out new techniques, but don't like to spend too long on a page. The main reason I scrapbook is so my daughter and my family always know how much they are loved and what they means to me (I tell them and show them enough, but after looking at my pages there is no denying it). So no matter if the layout is fancy or simple if that message is conveyed, I love the page. I also love going back and looking at my pages. If I am having a bad day they always cheer me up.

Sarah's blog is Scrapcetera.

I hope you visit their blogs and get to know them a bit.  They have already impressed me with their ideas and willingness to help promote A Walk Down Memory Lane.  I hope you will be as impressed with them, as I am!

Today's the big day!

StoreLayoutSketch Can you tell what this is??  If you look really really closely, you may be able to tell my mom's handwriting.   You'll also be able to see that there is some boxes, shapes, etc that look like fixtures that we can hang product on.  You may also see the outline of an embellishment bar, or a tool try-it-before-you-buy-it counter.  Can you guess now??

Today is a big day!!!  This is the day that we close on our new building!  These are some temporary floor-plans for the new store!!  My mom has been diligently working on the floorplan, and how to lay out the store.  So, it may not look like the above drawing when you're in the store...but we're so excited to move over there next month!

We have been renting a small-ish space since October.  We had thought that we would just be getting the store out of the basement, and use it more like a "warehouse" to make it easier to pack online orders...but it has become SOOOO much more than that!

We have been pleased and surprised by the reception that we've had here in Rock Valley.  We've had request for crops and classes that we really have not been able to host before in our small space.  Now, we'll have a 23 x 26 foot workshop/classroom area that will be set up with 8' tables all the time, so people can come and crop during store hours for free.

We plan on having some fun make and takes at the store, along with a cool tool try it before you buy it counter, where a whole counter will be filled with tools you can try before you buy them.

We also plan on having an embellishment bar, where you can pick up miscellaneous embellishments individually, instead of having to buy a whole pack.  Things like flowers, buttons, brads, etc.

We hope to be open sometime late July, because we have a bit of remodeling to do to the store, and will definitely post pictures when we're all ready!

Have a great weekend!

Wow!! Over 400 new goodies in the web store!

Little Sprout Layout Whew...I never thought I'd get this done again...but there are over 400 new goodies in the webstore again!  Some really cool things are uploaded into the webstore, including Crate Paper (look at that adorable layout from the CP team using the Little Sprout collection).  We also have the Lillian and Orbit collections from Crate Paper in the webstore.

How about some new Basic Grey?  We have the two newest collections, Lime Rickey and Wisteria in the store.  These are total opposites as far as their design goes, but they are both equally cool.

We also have Making Memories' new Wedding line here.  Ahhh, such pretty papers with pearly or glittery finishes.  Cool new embellishments from them including "looking glass" pieces, a fun new spiral journal book, and pretty glittery diecuts.

Making Memories Great Escape is here too.  They are great for travel, but some of the patterns look great for the boys in your life too!

Ahhh, and Doodlebug's new collections are here.  They're our featured manufacturer this month so remember you'll get 15% off...even the new collections!  They have the cutest little brads with their collections this time around...you'll need to check them out!

February B&M Newsletter

Hey there scrappers & stampers!  I forgot to post the February newsletter for the physical store customers.  If you happened to miss your email with the newsletter, you can see it HERE!

SoLuckyLayout SoLuckyLayout2 We've got a new layout class coming up in February using My Mind's Eye Laundry Line papers as well as chipboard, crackle paint, brads, rubons, ribbon, and pop dots.  Space is limited to 6, so you'll want to register early for this class!  The photo doesn't do this layout justice as there is lots of sparkle and glitter with this layout.  The class is $15 and you'll go home with a completed 2 page layout and lots of tips and tricks for these fun embellishments.  IF you are an online customer and would like to "take" this class, you can call or email us at the store, as we have a few extra class packs reserved just for our online customers.

Just-Because-Card-2 We're also adding new dates to our Cricut classes.  We've added Thursday, March 5 to our class schedule for a Cricut 101 class.  We're making the card at left, using the Wild Card cartridge and we're also making the ceramic tile with vinyl.  This is a very popular class, and we've sold out of all of our classes so far, so you won't want to miss this one!

Jet lag is an awful thing!

OK, so here I am, back in Iowa and back at the store...I should be all "bright and shiny" and excited about all the new CHA goodies I just saw this week, right?  Well, so very sorry to tell you, but I am a bit beat.  Although I AM excited about all of the cool stuff we saw and did, and I can't wait to show and tell you all of it...I am so tired that I'd love nothing better than to crawl back into bed!  LOL  Two 12 hour travel days and non-stop go-go-go for the 3 days we're there and it just wears me down...

Steelers smileySo....today, I will tell you a bit about what's going on here at the store the next couple ofdays. On Sunday, our beloved Steelers will be playing in the Super Bowl!!  We will be hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday night, and to celebrate, I'm extending the CHA 20% off sale at the store!  So...from now until after the game is over, you can receive 20% off your entire order!!!
And, if they win....you can expect to see some celebratory give-aways here on the blog next week.  :)

Next Thursday night is another one of our Cricut classes here at the store.  This one is currently full, but we do have another scheduled for Thursday, March 5.  You will want to register early for this class as we are already filling up spots.

On Monday, February 9 we will have a sneak peek night here at the store.  We will have sneak peeks of most of the goodies we ordered at CHA along with some layouts that we did using some of the new products we got at the show!!  So, not only will you be able to see pictures of them here on the blog, but you'll be able to touch and feel them at the store!

And, on Friday the 13th we will be hosting another workshop at the store.  For $10 you can crop the night away from 6 until midnight!

I am so excited to show you all of the new things that will be showing up at the store!  We already got our first phone call this morning that one of our CHA orders was ready to ship!!  So exciting!  :)

Welcome to 2009!

200901VintageHome You know...I think I say this every year, but I can't believe it's January of 2009 already!

Seems like when we're young, the days go on forever and it takes SOOOO long for our next birthday, or for Christmas to come around.  It feels like the older I get the faster time flies, and I'm constantly saying I can't believe it's already Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years!

Looking back at 2008, it was a pretty fantastic year here at A Walk Down Memory Lane.  I have been showing off and selling scrapbooking and card making supplies now for almost 6 years!  I really can't believe how much the industry has changed since we joined the scene in March of 2003.

We hope to have an even better 2009, and are making plans now to make your experience even better!  Normally I don't make personal resolutions, 'cuz it seems the weight loss goals, organization goals, etc just never take root, but I'm making a few business resolutions in order to give you, my customers, a quicker, better, more valuable experience while shopping with our store.

1.  Faster turnaround time on online orders.  We are streamlining our processes a bit after moving to a storefront, and hope to be able to ship out orders within 24 hours of you placing them.

2.  Customer instant chat portal online.  We have installed a customer service chat portal, where you can ask questions, get feedback, etc instantaneously via the web store.  If I'm working at the store, it should be on, so you can chat/ask questions about anything you want to know about our products and services, and get an instant answer.

3.  Bigger and better selection.  We are preparing for another trip to CHA at the end of the month and are looking forward to bringing you some of the best the show has to offer.  We are always bringing in new goodies, so if you have a favorite company that we don't carry, please let us know!

4.  Featured Manufacturer of the Month.  We are starting a monthly featured manufacturer special each month.  Every month, you can find out what manufacturer is our FEATURED MANUFACTURER, which will give you 15% off that manufacturer's products.  In January, My Mind's Eye is up...you will see various ways to use the MME products by our Design Team!

5.  Message Board changes.  We will be using our Blogs more than the message board as a way to keep in touch with our customers.  The Design Team will continue their daily posts over on the DT blog, showing off all kinds of ideas for projects, cards and layouts.  We will move our challenges and classes over to the blog format, and each Saturday you will get a new class.  Each Sunday you will get a challenge for the week.  These will be posted by our Design Team every day as well, but the Saturday and Sundays will be bonus posts for you!

Just a quick update...the January collection kit, card kit and Copic Marker kits have made their appearance in the store.  ENJOY!
