Christmas Maze Boook

I’ve always loved mini-books.  I find it fast and easy to finish.  You are able to fit in a lot of photos and they a great gift to family and friends as well.

I’ll be teaching you how to create this A-MAZE-ING little book for those Christmas moments worth remembering.

You can create this using a single sheet of cardstock, a few folds here and there and a very reliable adhesive.  So let’s get to work!

Materials:

One (1) 12x12 Green Cardstock

Two (2) 3.5” x 3.5” Cardstock

Two (2) 4.5” x 4.5” Patterned Paper (for your cover)

One (1) 12x12 Patterned Paper (to design the inside pages)

One Half (1/2) Yard Ribbon

How To:

  1. Fold a sheet of plain cardstock in half.  Use a bone folder to reinforce the fold.  Fold the free edges of the cardstock back to the center fold.  Repeat the same process of folding the other half.  The folds have now created 16 squares that measures about 3”x3” each.

Step 1

  1. Cut the “maze.”  Unfold the cardstock on top of a cutting mat.  Using a craft knife, cut along the right vertical fold using a ruler as guide. Make sure you leave one square from the top when cutting.

Cut alternately from top to bottom.  You should have formed an “M” with your cuts.

Step 2

3.      It’s time to fold the maze.  Simply follow the “maze” to fold the cardstock for the inner pages.  Begin folding the left leg along the folds.  When you reach the top, fold the stack over to the next leg.  Simply follow the natural fold until you reach the end.

Step 3

4.      Set the pages aside as we create the cover.

5.      For the cover, adhere the 3.5” x 3.5” cardstock in the middle of the 4.5” x 4.5” patterned paper.  Once adhered, create mitered corners by cutting off the corners of the patterned paper near the edge of the cardstock.

Using a bone folder, fold in the patterned paper to the cardstock.  You would have created your front and back cover for the Christmas Maze Book.

6.      Let’s now assemble the book.  Lay the two covers side by side about ½ inch apart.  Run a line of strong adhesive in the middle and lay the half yard ribbon across the glue line.  There should be equal amount of ribbon on either side.

Step 5

7.      Time to assemble the Christmas Maze Book.  Apply adhesive to the outer flap of the maze book.  Center the flap on one side of the cover.  Repeat the same on the other end.

8.      Last step, design your cover and your inner pages.
