I'll be away for a bit longer

Hi blog readers!  I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know I'll be away for a bit longer.

I recently had a hysterectomy and am recuperating at home.  My mom is covering the store for me, and I'll be in to help ship out orders at the end of the week, but only for an hour or two.

Things went well, the doc is glad he got in for the procedure when he did, and he's glad he took as much as he did.  So, overall things went well.

Now, it's just to get back up to speed.  :)

THANKS everyone!

So Spring Card Kit samples

March2009CardKitMakeMyWorld I have finally gotten all of the March cards uploaded here to the blog, so you can see all of the cards I've made using that card kit.  So far, I have 16 cards made with LOTS of things to spare!  I'm guessing I could probably make another 6 or so cards when I'm ready.

If you look over to the left <----  You'll see a label called March 2009 Card Kit So Spring and it'll have all of the cards I made using this kit.

Unfortunately, I didn't write down all of my measurements for these cards, but I can tell you what stamps or other tools I used to make the cards.

April 2009 Card Kit Cards

April2009CardKit4U Good afternoon all!  :)  Today I'm posting some cards that I made with the April 2009 Earthy Brights card kit from A Walk Down Memory Lane.

I have some more cards that I haven't quite finished yet and they'll hopefully make an appearance on the blog later this month.

The first two cards are pretty much the same, except the sticker is different.  This month, I created 8 cards, but 4 different patterns and just duplicated those patterns for different occasions.

I have cards for any occasion using this kit, which the Doodlebug rubons helped to make this kit very versatile!  I could just choose my sentiment and rub them on.  :)

April2009CardKitHi First, I cut the Brown Cardstock into a 4 1/4 x 12 strip.  Then, I cut that into two 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card bases.  You should have a 1" x 4 1/4" piece of brown cardstock leftover.  KEEP THAT!  :)

Next, I cut the trees into a 3 3/4 x 12 strip.  I cut those down to 3 3/4 x 5 so you'll have another scrap leftover.  KEEP THAT!  :)

I cut my striped paper into a 1 x 12 strip and then cut that down to a 1 x 3 1/2 strip.  Then I took my Fiskars Treading Water border punch and punched one edge.

Next, I cut my ribbon into 4 1/4 pieces.  I inked all of the edges of the papers and layered them together.

Last, I finished the cards off with my Doodlebug rubon sentiments and stickers from American Crafts.

If you look over here <------------------- to the left, you'll see a section called April 2009 Card Kit Earthy Brights.  There, you will find all of the cards I've made, along with the measurements and directions on how to re-create them!  ENJOY!

The DT plays with Basic Grey!

AngieBGGrow This month's featured manufacturer is BASIC GREY.  Everything by Basic Grey is 15% off through the month of April.

If you haven't tried any BG goodness yet, now is a GREAT time to try a few pieces.

If BG is your favorite manufacturer...well, head on over to the store and load up!  We have lots of BG products including all the embellishments, 6x6 paper pads and so much more right here in the store!

In the first layout tot he left, Angie used some Basic Grey Offbeat papers and stickers.  I love the bright colorful patterns of the Offbeat collection.

On the rightLizaBGAmore, Liza made a gorgeous layout celebrating love using the Basic Grey Urban Prairie collection.  I think this collection is my favorite Basic Grey collection yet.  It's so pretty with it's colorful butterflies, and it works so well with all of my girly-girl photos.

Last is this layout from Lynn.  She did an awesome two-page spread using some Basic Grey Sugared papers.  Normally this is a "girly" collection, however I just love how she changed her photos to black & white and used it to showcase ALL of her kids!

April Shrooms & Buds Kit

200904URCute I haven't had much time to play with the April Shrooms & Buds kit yet, but thought I'd better show off the one card I made so far!

This is our last collection kit, and I'm so glad we're going out with one of my all-time favorites!

This card has some pink DCWAV cardstock for a base.  I love the DCWAV cardstock for embossing, because it has a white core.  So, when you emboss it comes out already white!  :)

I embossed it with my Cuttlebug and a border embossing folder.  Next, I used my Apron Lace border punch to punch the patterned paper from the kit.  I added a bit of green cardstock above the patterned paper and used a bit of grossgrain ribbon between the 2 pieces.  Next, I pulled out my layered felt "cute" sticker from the kit and last were the alphabet and heart stickers from the glittered alpha sheet from the kit.  Easy Peasy!

American Crafts Zing Embossing Powders

I was out and about blogland this morning, and saw an awesome new video from American Crafts about their Embossing Powders.

Notice how they work on VERY detailed stamped images, and the glittered embossing powder is to die for!!  I did play with them a while back and was very very happy with the way they turned out!

We carry the entire line of American Crafts Embossing Powders in the store.  You can check them out HERE.

April 2009 Earthy Brights Card Kit

200904CardKitCardSamples I spent some time last weekend playing around with the April 2009 Card kit named Earthy Brights.

I deliberately tried not to stamp any cards this time, and stuck to using only the goodies from within the kit.  I did pretty good, except the bottom 2 I added a sticker from the American Crafts Puffy stickers in Chestnut.

So far, I have created 8 card fronts, with lots of leftover pieces to create a bunch more!

I have had a lot of requests for step-by-step instructions on how to re-create my cards from my card kits, and I'm working on getting those done, starting from the January card kit.  I didn't realize how many people would want to create my cards exactly as I did...so, you ask...we provide!  :)  I will be working on these instructions this week, and will post them to our blog as soon as the .pdf is available!

Help! I'm covered in boxes!

MMJustChillinBoySpiralJournal WOW!  So much to cover in one little blog post.  :)

OK, so I want to quick say a HUGE THANK YOU to Jessica D who was our first ever Design Team member strictly for our Card Kits.  She did a phenomenal job, and I was so sad that her time here at AWDML had come to a close.  She can still be found at her blog though, so if you'd like to see some amazing stamping designs, head on over there!

Next up, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our customers here at AWDML.  We had a phenomenal response to our month long celebration here at the store, and all I can say is you guys ROCK!  :)  I am so blessed to be able to do what I love, and meet some very cool people along the way.

So...today is April 1.  And, no foolin', it's my birthday.  Yup...36 years ago I was brought into the world and it hasn't been the same for my parents ever since.  You see, I was their first...poor people!  LOL  I must not have been too bad a kid 'cuz they had 3 more after me!  :)

But, I'm sure you're not here to hear about my birthday, you wanna hear what is going on here at the store!  Sooo much to talk about!

**  New goodies in the store are arriving almost daily the way it seems!  My mom comes to the shop once a week for a day and all we do is put product away, count it, mark it, and list it for sale here on the webstore.  My mom hasn't been in for a couple of days again, and I'm seriously lost in product!  So many good things just arriving or on their way soon, that I see brown cardboard boxes in my dreams!  We've just got in the new Heidi Swapp Invisibles (click on this link to see the review and video of Heidi Swapp at CHA).  We also received the Making Memories Just Chillin' collections for both boy and girl.  And, can I just say...these are sooo much better in person.  The web version of these things just do NOT do them justice!  Also, the WeR Memory Keepers MVP and Tiffany's lines are here.  If you have a sports fan, you NEED to check out the MVP stuff.  It is just too cool.

**  April brings another FEATURED MANUFACTURER....and this month's manufacturer is one of my all time favorites (which is why I chose it for my birthday month)!!!!  This company has a wide variety of goodies including brads, buttons, 6x6 paper pads, collection packs, papers, chipboard albums, ribbon, stamps...ooooo scrappy heaven!!  Basic Grey has been a scrapper's staple for quite a few years now, and we have got a HUGE selection of almost 500 products here at the store.  Because they are our featured manufacturer, EVERYTHING is 15% off by Basic Grey!!

**  Classes are being scheduled for April, with tomorrow night's Cricut 101 class kicking off the month.  We have 2 spots available for this class, so if you can make it, it's definitely worth the time to learn all about the Cricut machine.  We have another scheduled for April 16 at 10:30 AM and have 1 more spot available.  We're also finishing up a Basic Grey card/stamping class that we'll hold here at the store on Saturday, April 18 at 12:30.  More information on that class will be on the website and in the newsletters.

**  Monthly kits are being photographed this afternoon so you'll be able to check out our last monthly collection kit, as well as check out the new card kit and Copic Marker set tonight.
