Sympathy Card with KI Memories Pet Shoppe papers

MySympathyI hate making sympathy cards.  Do you feel that way too?  I mean, I hate that I need sympathy cards from time to time.  I have been very fortunate so far, that I haven't lost anyone very close to me yet.

{personal part of today's blog post}  On Friday, I found out through Facebook that one of my favorite faces from my childhood church had passed away.  I knew he was battling cancer for a while now, but my daughter talked about Kenny after meeting him at Bible School 2 weeks ago.  He was a HERO for the week.  They couldn't have picked out a better man to play a Biblical hero.

I don't think there is one memory I have involving my childhood church that doesn't have Kenny in.  Vacation Bible Schools, Sunday School picnics, RCYF outings, and just seeing him in church every Sunday morning.  Even after being gone from Carmel Church for almost 20 years, when we come back, he still greeted us with a smile, a handshake or a hug and remembered me by my first name.

My sympathies go out to the Sandbulte family this morning.  In my husband's words when I told him the news, "There's no doubt where that man is today!"  Praise the Lord that Kenny will spend eternity praising his Lord and singing with the choir of angels!  We'll miss you here Kenny, but we'll see you soon! {personal part of today's blog post end

Today's card is one I completed a long while ago, and posted some of it's companion cards.  This is one of the cards in a group of 10 that I made using a few pieces of cardstock, and 2 pieces of patterned papers.  Along with a few embellishments, and I had a bunch of pretty cards.

Today's card recipe:
KI Memories Pet Shoppe pattern papers
Bazzill Swiss Dot cardstock
Jenni Bowlin Studios Mini Diecut Labels papers
Provo Craft felt flowers
Pebbles Candy Dots
Fiskars Upper Crest Border Punch
Heidi Grace stamp
Grossgrain Ribbon

Cloud 9 Mini Gift Album

SamAlbum1It's a beautiful Monday morning here in northwest Iowa.  We had a really stormy week last week, with thunderstorms, tornadoes, and just all around not so nice weather last week.  This morning it's calm and the sun is out, and even though it will be warm, I hope we can avoid the humidity!

Today, I have a fun little mini album that Samantha brought to the store a while back.  We have these really great mini albums by Cloud 9 here and she made one up for her mom.  The albums come with a gift box as well, so she decorated the box to match what she did with the board book mini album.  These mini albums come in kraft, white or black and they have 3 different sizes as well.SamAlbum2  One quick tip about these though...if you want to put your album back in the box after you're finished creating it, you'll want to use just pictures and some paper.  If you don't need the box, embellish it until you're little heart's content!  :)

The supplies Samantha used are:

Album - Cloud 9: 6x6 board book (kraft)
Paper - Bella Blvd: Camped Out - Fireside, Keeping Warm, Go Fish, Bits A Bella
Super Stud - Cyber Kiss, Bits A Bella
                            Plastino - Trellis
Stamps - Unity Stamps: Hodge Podge of Happiness
              Heidi Grace: We Are Family
Cornish Heritage Farms: Collage Elements I
Embellishments - Ribbon By the Yard
Tools - Fiskars Upper Crest Border Punch
           Bazzill In-Stitch Template
           Corner Rounder

Have you met my new friends?

If I haven't told you lately...I really, really love owning my own scrapbook store.  I get to explore the world to find some of the coolest new companies and new products for YOU to put in YOUR scrapbooks!  Lately, I've been checking out the mid-release products, and have found some really cool stuff for the store.  Sit back and relax for a bit...I've got some beautiful things to showBBSunKissedCutouts you!!

BBSunKissedSplash Bo Bunny released some new collections, and they are just too cute!  The first one is Sun Kissed.  This is PERFECT for summer pictures at the beach, at the pool, or even running through the sprinkler.  I just love the bright colors of this collection.  Check out this fun cut-out paper.  One side has various journaling cards to cut out, and the other side has four 6x6 panels to cut out to make your own mini album if you choose.

BBPeacocklaneSplash The next collection is called Peacock Lane.  If you hadn't noticed before, purple is one of my absolute favorite colors.  But, it's so hard to find any scrapbook collections with any amount of purple in them...Bo Bunny's Peacock Lane collection to the rescue!!  I'm not a huge fan of the peacock, so I've chosen the papers and embellishments with as little peacock feathers in them as possible,BBBlockPartySplash while still keeping the purple designs!

The last collection from Bo Bunny is Block Party.  This is a perfect choice for those outdoor BBQ parties, neighborhood block parties, or evenDelovely6x6Pad 4th of July outings.  With the blues, greens and reds, it's also great for any boy pictures as well.

Another fun new summer collection is Cosmo Cricket's DeLovely.  This collection will be making it's appearance in the store this week, and online later this week.  It is different than the "normal" Cosmo Cricket collections, but the projects I've seen using these papers are so fun for summer!

How abEPSweetSummertimeElementStickersout a BRAND-SPANKIN' NEW company??!?  If you haven't checked out Echo Park Paper, you're missing out.  This new company debuted last month and we have their first 2 complete lines.  Sweet Summertime is some delicious colors.  Every time I walk by their section in the store it makes me happy.  WP2013_ElementCardPaper_WP_A The colors are just...well, delicious!  Their newest collection is called Walk in the Park.  These are a bit warmer colors and very rich looking papers.  They are designed so you can use them for just about any occasion from spring to summer, everyday play, or birthdays.

JBSoupSummerSquashCrookneck Up next is Jillibean Soup's Summer Squash collection. These are just plain old fun and pretty papers.  The colors are so bright and cheerful and they have such basic patterns as stripes and flowers...but this one here...this one made me so giddy.  These are such ADORABLE little paper lanterns strewn across the paper.  These are just so pretty, I just might stage a fun little party in my front porch with newly purchased lanterns hanging in my porch JUST to use this paper!!

If you're looking for some new patriotic papersPPStarlightShootingStarDiecut to use for 4th o  f July...look no further than Pink Paislee's Star Light collection.  They  have taken some deep, rich reds and blues and paired it with a creamy neutral to give you a new take on the traditional.

SCDocumentarySouvenier Another new company is Studio Calico.  We picked up this company after CHA in January and have all 3 of their collections.  The newest is called Documentary, and is primarily for vacation or travel pictures. However...wouldn't these be fun for your everyday boys playing pictures too?LFBakeMeACake

For you stamping girls...I haven't forgotten about you!  :)   We have picked up a new stamp company called Lawn Fawn.  They are a newer company that makes acrylic stamps.  They have a cute and whimsical feel to them, and I'm really excited to ink them up and make some cards with them.  Check out this cute set with build your own cupcakes and layer cakes.

I think that's about it for new collections so far.  I do have a few mid-release collections that are still on their way from Little Yellow Bicycle that will be perfect for summer, and I'm hoping they'll be here soon.

KFToothFairyStackedStickers I also got in some new themed packs from Karen Foster for amusement park trips, fishing and hunting, Tooth Fairy visits and new stickers for baseball and softball.

Nugget Tin Gift Idea

NuggetTinChristyIf you're looking for a quick and simply Father's Day gift idea, here's another one from Christy!

If you have a sweet tooth family member, this is a really easy one to create!  Start with one of our Nugget Tins and 12 Hershey's chocolate Nugget candy bars.  Wrap each Nugget bar with a strip of paper and use a good strong adhesive to keep them from popping open.  Next, wrap a few of the nuggets with twine and a button.  Snap the hinge closed on the tin, and take a piece of twine and wrap it around the box a few times and make a quick gift tag out of 2 circles.  Easy Peasy!

Christy chose the Bella Blvd Camped Out collection of papers for her Nugget Tin.

We're Nuts About You Father's Day Gift

FathersDayGiftChristyChristy created this adorable little gift pack for the store for a Father's Day gift idea.

She started out with one of our Clear Card Boxes and filled them with a few packages of peanuts.  She printed out some fake tickets from THIS SITE and tucked them behind this cool ribbon I found at the Fashion District in LA when we were there for CHA in January.

What a cute idea for Father's Day!

Those Eyes layout with Studio Calico

ThoseEyesSamCheck out today's layout that Samantha created a while back.  When we got our first shipment of Studio Calico, I gave some of it to Samantha to create a layout.  Isn't this just striking?

She used some of the Anthology collection of papers and some Pebbles Candy Dots for embellishments.

Get Well Soon Card with KI and CC Designs Stamps

GetWellSoonHappy Tuesday!  I thought I'd share a little card that I created a while back, and I don't think has been posted to the blog before.  I started with 2 sheets of KI Memories Pet Shoppe papers and 2 of the KI Memories Pet Shoppe printed cardstocks to see how many cards I could create. I also took along some of our Copic papers, my Copic markers, and a few stamps.  I ended up creating 10 cards or card fronts.

I started with an A2 card front.  Then I punched the corners of the polka dot paper with the Tonic Ticket Punch and placed some Pebbles Candy Dots in each corner. Next came the little strip of stripe paper, and I cut the yellow star cardstock with my Nestabilites label die.  I stamped the bench and Sugar Plums Autumn Emma with Memento ink and colored them in with my Copic markers.  I fussy cut them out and pop dotted them to create the little scene.

Remember, the CC Designs stamps are 25% off through the whole month of June!  Don't miss out on these adorable stamps!
