I've been traveling the last few weeks and I left my scrap space in a horrid mess, so my first task since returning has been to get it tidied up. I did take some supplies with me, so I also needed to get those unpacked and put away. As I was doing this it struck me that I should make some changes in how I store my flat embellishments. By flat I mean things like stickers, journaling spots and tags. Before I would file them all by manufacturer. I defaulted to this system since that is how I store my patterned papers. But today I realised that when I am scrapping I don't think of these items this way, I think of them by type. Then it hit me: I should arrange them this way! So now I have all my stickers together, all my journaling spots together, all my rub-ons together etc. I think it will make a huge difference in being able to find what I want easily!
If you're planning on reorganising your supplies, sit and think about your process of scrapping before you do it. How do you approach working on a page? Do you think of the elements in terms of manufacturer, colour or type? This could be the key to arranging your supplies in the manner that works best for you.
What method do you use now? Is it working for you, or do you think you should try something new? Let us know your ideas and approaches!
