A spooky, scary, Halloween spider web!

Happy Halloween! We are about to carve our halloween pumpkin and then head out trick or treating! It is my daughter's first Halloween so I can't wait to get her all dressed up and take some pictures. If you are like me you will probably have a ton of pictures to scrapbook. Here is a quick spider web you can make to add to layouts, cards and decor. I started making a card, but then thought it would look cute hanging on my door for all the Trick or Treaters to see!

Supplies:

• Black Cardstock
• Patterned paper (pink paislee sweet cakes)
• Black quilting floss
• Thin tipped wet adhesive (diamond glaze)
• Halloween stickers (Doodlebug Trick or Treat Cardstock Stickers)
• Jewels (Doodlebug and Kaiser Crafts)
• Thickers (Cream Soda)
• cotton

1. Trim Cardstock to 6 x 6 square. Trim patterned paper to slightly less than 6x 6, distress edges and adhere.

2. With a pencil, very lightly sketch top of spider web and lines of spider web. I made my lines dark so they would show up in the photo better, but the lighter the better.

 

3. Sketch remaining lines of spider web so they line up with the first lines.

4. Using a wet adhesive add adhesive over the top horizontal line of your spider web. I used diamond glaze because it dries clear. (When the floss is adhered you will not be able to see the lines anymore.)

5. Cut a long piece of black floss and adhere over adhesive. I used a sewing needle to help stick down the floss and I put it down. Cut off the extra at the end.

6. Add adhesive to next line and adhere floss.

7. Keep going one line at a time until all the horizontal lines are finished. Then adhere floss to the vertical lines, one line at a time.  

8. Decorate with stickers, jewels, cotton adn thickers!

9. Add Ribbon to hang and you are done. Ok so not so spook and scary, but I didn't want to scare any trick or treaters so I decided to go with a "cute" spider web!

Use up your Journaling Cards

I like to buy journaling cards in lots of different sizes, colors and shapes. I find that I have way more than I could ever use. So to make use of some of those older journaling cards I use them as photo corners. On the layout below I used two of the Jillibean Soup journaling sprouts for my photo corners. I put ribbon through them and doodled on them to make them a little more fun. I also punched out a scalloped circle from one of the square sprouts to better fit my layout.

So use up those old journaling cards so you can buy some more!

Halloween Treat Bag Tutorial

Today's Tutorial is on how to make a "Halloween Treat Bag" for your Halloween parties!  It's super easy and super cute!

Here is what you will need:

1. 11" X 4" piece of Cardstock
2. 1 1/4" X 3 3/4" piece of Halloween Patterned Paper
3. Scallop Circle Nestibilities Dies
4. Circle Nestibilities Dies
5. Halloween Stamp
6. Small plastic bag with candy
7. stapler
8. Ribbon scrap
9. Scrap of  White Cardstock
10. Scrap of Orange Cardstock
11. Black Ink
12. Scoring Tool
13. Adhesive (not pictured)

Step 1:  Score your Black Cardstock at 1 1/2", 5 1/2" and 7 ".  Fold on the score lines to form a bag shape.

 

Step 2:  With your Scallop Circle dies, cut a hole in the Cardstock about 3/4" of an inch above the 7" score line.  Be sure to center it on the cardstock.

Step 3:  Adhere your Patterned Paper (I used Doodlebug Hocus Pocus) to the Carstock between the  end and the 1 1/2" score line.

Step 4:  Cut a Scallop Circle (about 1 3/4") from the Orange Cardstock, and a Circle (about 1 1/2") from the White Cardstock.

Step 5:  Stamp your image on to the White Cardstock and adhere it to the Orange Cardstock.

Step 6:  Tie your ribbon scrap around the Patterned Paper and ahere your Stamped Image to the Patterned Paper (I used foam tape).

Step 7:  With a Stapler, staple the plastic bag with candy to the INSIDE of your bag.  Be sure to staple it so that the candy will show through the "window."

YOU ARE DONE!!  Just fold up your bag and keep it closed with some re-positionable adhesive, or a small piece of velcro!

Halloween Layout!

Here's my Layout of A Walk DOwn MEmory Lane This week. I got the paper to do a layout I'm so not organised with my scrap booking and so behind on what pictures I need to scrap so I decided to do this one from Halloween 2005.

Make a fall tree

Trees and scalloped punches are all the rage right now. So why not combine the two to make a tree from your scalloped punch?

I made this quick little fall card in no time with my scalloped punch and leftover Bo Bunny Delilah papers. I cut the little bird and tree trunk from my cricut wild card cartridge, but you can easily freehand cut those. If you are not very confident in your free hand cutting skills another option for shapes is microsoft word. If you look look through your word program's clip art there are many shapes to choose from. You can also check out the webdings and wingdings font. Open a word document, click on insert symbol and choose webdings or wingdings to look through the symbols. Print your clip art on patterned paper and cut out to use on a card or LO or print onto thick cardstock and use as to trace. 

To make my tree card I punched four scalloped circles, inked them and adhered them to my card. On two of the circles I used foam tape to give the tree some dimension. I then adhered the trunk, little bird and buttons.

Fall Color Challenge!

Today's challenge is a COLOR CHALLENGE!!  Fall has been cold but beautiful here in Maine, and it has inspired me to do a lot of scrapping of fall colors and fall photos!  So, I am challenging you to use this FALL COLOR COMBO!!
