Don't you hate it when someone gives you a gift and you forgot to get them something? Sometimes it's a co-worker, a neighbor, the mailman... No matter who it is, it's always rather uncomfortable when you get a little something from someone you weren't expecting. So, here is a super quick little treat box that you put together for just one of those moments!
You will need:
*Patterned Paper for your box cut at 6"X 8 1/2" *Cardstock or Patterned Paper for the lid cut at 4" X 4" *Something to decorate the front of your box. *A Ribbon Scrap (at least 20” long) *Scissors *An Edge punch *Adhesive *Scoring Tool *Cutting Blade
Step 1: Score your patterned paper at 2" along the long side of your paper. Then, turn your paper to the 6" side of your paper and score at 2", 4", 6" and 8". The Score lines are hard to see in the photo, so I put some arrows in so you can see where they go.
Step 2: Along the bottom of your paper, cut on the score lines up to the 2" score line. Then, cut off the 1/2" piece at the end of the paper.
Step 3: Fold on all score lines. Then, turn your paper over and add adhesive to the 1/2" flap and the three RIGHT bottom flaps leaving the bottom flap on the LEFT withouth any adehesive (the one closest to my thumb).
Step 4: Fold the 2nd flap under the 1st flap and press to adhere it to the bottom. Then, fold the 3rd flap under the 2nd flap and press to adhere.
Step 5: Now, fold the last flap under the previous one and press to adhere. Also, press the side of the box onto the 1/2" side flap to ahdere and close your box. Here is what it looks like looking straight down into your box.
Step 6: Now for the lid... Score your piece of 4"X 4" paper at 1" on all four sides. Then fold on the lines. Each side will have a square on each end. Make a cut on the line that forms the sqare on the RIGHT. Cut only up to the score line that runs perpindicular. Then, turn your paper and repeat making only ONE cut on each side of the paper and always on the right. Then, cut a small piece off of each sqare so that it won't show after you use the punch.
Step 7: Use your punch on each side of the lid. I started by centering it and then moving it to the left and right to go to the edge. I found that when I used this punch, I needed to trim a bit more off my "sqares" so that they wouldn't show when I finish my lid. This may not have to be done depending on the punch you use.
Step 8: Use a blade to cut a slit on two sides of your lid that is wide enough for your ribbon. Make your slits right on the score lines.
Step 9: Put adhesive on the bottom of each corner flap.
Step 10: Now fold over each side of the lid and press the flaps with the adhesive underneath each side to form the lid.
Step 11: Fill your box with goodies. I used Hershey's Kisses. Lay your ribbon under your box.
Step 12: Thread the ends of your ribbon under the lid and out through the slits that you cut. Then, fit your lid on top of your box.
Step 13: Tie and trim your ribbon. Adhere a decoration to the front of the box, and you are DONE!
I know it looks like a lot of steps, but it's really easy!! When I made one without stopping to take a picture at every step, it took me under 10 minutes! It's quick AND cute!
