Hey guys, it's Erica!
Since it's been just over a week since Easter, I figure we all have some fun Easter pictures that we need to scrap. I came up with these cute Easter Egg embellishments using alcohol inks and I thought I'd share with you how I made them.
You'll need Tim Holtz Fragments in Oval, alcohol inks and an ink applicator tool. Make sure you are working on something like a craft mat to protect your table top and/or you have some blending solution around to clean up any messes. (Speaking from experience here, folks! Oops!)
Now, these eggs are super easy and turn out super cute so don't let the fact that we are using alcohol inks scare you. First, add a drop of ink to the end of one of your eggs. I chose the three larger oval fragments for my eggs.
Then, spread the ink around the fragment using your blender tool. You could also color these with Copic markersbut I really like the almost crackled look that the tool gives. It's a very authentic Easter Egg look. (Especially at our house! LOL!) You need to move fairly quickly as they dry fast but you can always add more ink to refresh it and rework it.
You can add another drop of the same ink to the bottom and color the entire egg one color, or use another color on the bottom for a two-toned egg.
Here are the three that I made.
Wouldn't they be cute tucked into a cute paper pieced basket on a layout about your kids' Easter baskets? How about nestled into some torn edge paper hills on an Egg Hunt layout? Or make your own egg carton and have them sitting in it for a fun Egg Coloring layout! I still haven't picked which one I want to use mine for! LOL!
You could also do this to some of the smaller ovals and make cute little jelly beans. Or forget Easter, the round ones would make great Christmas ornaments! :)
If you make some, be sure to share them in the gallery!
Terrific idea - LOVE these!
