Hi everyone, it's Erica! :D
I've got a tutorial challenge for you today and it involves not just following the tutorial for the challenge but also being inspired by someone else! For me, I was inspired by two people. First, I saw this really cool velvet flower tutorial on Lisa Pace's blog and knew I needed to recreate it for you!!!
So, here we go! First up you need your supplies! Grab some scalloped edged ribbon (or any other ribbon/fabric you can find), some coordinating thread and a needle!
Make a running stitch along the flat edge of your ribbon. If your using a normal ribbon just pick a side, if you're using a strip of fabric, stitch along the side that you don't want as your flowers outer edge.
Then, gather the ribbon by pulling the threads tightly.
Tie the threads together very tightly. This is what your completed flower should look like.
All you have to do now is snip the threads and decide what kind of center you'd like for your flower. I tried a flocked brad. Cute!
Or a shiny pearl. Fancy!
Or, my favorite, a button! So pretty!
Second, I've been really inspired by Wendy McKee's work on her blog lately. I took that inspiration and Lisa's flower and created the card below.
Products used: Patterned Paper-Jillibean Soup, Sticker-Jillibean Soup, Punches-Marvy Uchida & Fiskars, Ribbon-Cosmo Cricket, Button-Buttons Galore, Pins-Maya Road, Cardstock-Bazzill, Ink-Ranger, Mist-Maya Road
Now for the challenge! Create a card or scrapbook page using one of these flowers and add into the mix some inspiration from another scrapbooker. Link up your project here and also include a link to your inspiration's blog/gallery/website. This way we can all see how others interpret inspiration and get some eye candy as well!
I can't wait to see what you create! :D
